Innovative Robotics Team For Ocean Awareness

Learn some things about our team!

We are a team of 9 middle school students with love for robotics and STEM. There are 7th and 9th Grade students that all go to the American Farm School of Thesaloniki. Our goal is to create a team able to overcome the challenges of FLL 2025.

Robot Game

Competing in First Lego League with innovative robotics solutions.

Shark Detection Project

Developing an ocean innovation project using Raspberry Pi.

Our Team

Cultivating teamwork and leadership skills in robotics.

About Us

The Journey of AFS GOATS Robotics Team

Our team was founded two years ago at 16th of January 2023 by some fellow students with a passion for STEM and has been attending to the FLL competition since.

Our Goals for this Year

To gain new experiences and knowledge concerning robotics and programming, while also learning about the oceans and becoming aware of the dangers that they face.

We try to qualify to the next round of FLL while also ensuring a spot to the finals.

Unique Value Propositions of AFS GOATS Robotics Team

Robot Mechanics

Our robot game mechanics revolve around our innovation of a mechanism that allows us to change tools after each game pit.

Game Strategy

Our main strategy is to do multiple pit stops, changing tools and acting as a “checkpoint” between mission allowing for better planning and individuality for each mission.

Programming

In order to program the robot to complete its tasks, we use the block coding software SPIKE v3.4.5. We also use the SPIKE set to create our robot and its tools

SharkTrack AI

For our Innovation Project we developed a camera tracker that recognizes sharks in order to help researches and lifesavers to detect them.

Use of RaspberryPI

To create the SharkTrack AI we used a Raspberry Pi and a Raspberry camera to code it using the detection model YOLOv8

Creativity and Teamwork

We are an innovative team of 9 people (and our supervisor)
